Job Embeddedness Survey (PLF) STUDY 1

Dear Participant,

We are currently conducting research into a new concept called job embeddedness to determine how personality characteristics moderate its relationship to people’s intent to stay in their job. Job embeddedness considers an individual’s links to other people, teams and groups, his or her perceived fit with the job, organization and community, and what he or she believes would be sacrificed by leaving the company. Ultimately, we hope to publish the findings of this study in an academic journal.

This is part 1 of a 3 parts study. We require your particpation at three different points in time. Part 1 is taking place now, and Part 2 and 3 will take place after 3 weeks each. When you have completed all three parts of the study, we will approve all three of your submissions so that you are paid the full reward.

Participation: We would greatly appreciate your participation in our data collection effort. Your participation is COMPLETELY VOLUNTARY. Your decision to not participate or to withdrawal from participation will not jeopardize your relationship with your co-workers, manager or employing organization.

This survey should take about 15 minutes to complete, though some people will complete it more quickly and others may take longer. In order to participate, simply click NEXT at the bottom of this page.

Confidentiality: We ask for some demographic information in order to interpret results more accurately. ALL ANSWERS ARE ANONYMOUS. No one other than the research team will see your completed questionnaire. Findings will be reported at the group level only. Reports summarizing trends in large groups may be published.

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. When answering the questionnaire, DO NOT OVERTHINK the answers. Usually, the first answer that comes to mind is the correct answer.
  2. This is NOT an assessment of your aptitude for your job. Very different personalities are required to be successful in different jobs. As such, respond to the statements in a manner that reflects what you think of yourself, or of a situation, and not how others might expect you to.
  3. This is NOT a timed questionnaire. Take as long as you need to go through it, but try to do it in its entirety in one seating. Usually 12-15 minutes is a good time frame to set aside.
  4. Try to do the questionnaire when you are in a relaxed state of mind, and not under time/deadline pressure or just had an argument with a colleague, friend or family member.

I know this is a busy time for everyone. We are most thankful for your time and your response. With appreciation,

The Research Team
